When connecting to 1024's Ivo server, it can be done in either "Full Screen" or "Windowed" mode. Which to choose will depend on the user's particular setup, such as whether they have multiple monitors, a laptop etc.
Many users these days have a laptop with an external monitor (in the office). Our recommendations would typically be to use Ivo in Full Screen mode when just using it on a laptop with no external monitor, but to use Ivo in Windowed mode when using it on an external monitor (this is because copying and pasting between Ivo and other applications is simpler when Ivo is in Windowed mode).
The icon used to connect to 1024's Ivo server holds the settings related to this mode. You can create multiple Ivo Server icons with each one having different settings as required.
1. Edit the Ivo Server icon
Right-click the "Ivo Server" icon, choose the "Edit" option -
2. Change the display size
Click the "Display" tab
Use the "slider" to change the size of the remote connection window. Drag the slider all the way to the right to select the "Full Screen" option.
Notes:
- what you see may be a little different as it will depend on the version of "Microsoft Remote Desktop" installed on your computer, but it will be substantially the same. You can choose to go "Full Screen" by dragging the slider at the top all the way to the right. Once you have made any changes, click back on the "General" tab and click the "Save" button.
- we recommend not ticking the "Use all my monitors for the remote session". Turning this option on would cause the remote connection window to spread across all monitors which is most likely undesirable, and in any case, Ivo is not designed to effectively utilise such a large amount of screen real estate.
3. To save your changes ...
Click the General tab, then click the Save button to save the changes you have made -
Should I save my credentials?
This is optional, however 1024's recommendation is that you not do so. The risks are -
- If the device is lost or stolen, or unauthorised access is gained to it in the office or home, then the person would be able to access the Ivo server because the credentials to access the server have been saved.
- We regularly receive requests to reset a user's Ivo server password because it has been forgotten, and it has been forgotten because it has been previously saved.
Creating separate icons for different circumstances
As the icon itself contains the settings for how the remote connection window will appear, you can simply duplicate the icon (by copying and pasting it) and then changing the settings of the new copy as described above. You can rename each icon as necessary to indicate its purpose. For example you could create two "Ivo Server" icons named -
Ivo Server (Window)
Ivo Server (Full Screen)
